Loupe Privacy Policy

Your card photos are processed on your device and are never uploaded to us. Your collection lives on your device and syncs through your own iCloud, not our servers. We collect the minimum needed to run your account and never sell your data or use it for third-party advertising.

Your Photos Never Leave Your Device

Loupe identifies cards entirely on your device. The photo you scan is processed on-device to read the card and is then discarded. No card image is ever sent to a Loupe server — none of our systems receive, store, or see your photos. This is a hard architectural rule, not a setting: there is no photo-upload path in the app at all.

Your Collection Stays On Your Device

The cards you save, their conditions, quantities, notes, and cost basis are stored on your device using Apple's on-device database, and — if you use iCloud — synced privately through your own iCloud account (Apple's private database). Loupe's servers never store your collection. Because it isn't on our servers, we can't see it, share it, or lose it.

What We Collect For Your Account

When you sign in with Apple, we store your Sign in with Apple identifier, the email you choose to share (which may be Apple's private relay address), and your subscription status. If you turn on price alerts, we store a device push token so we can notify you. Guest use creates only an anonymous account identifier with no personal details.

What We Send About A Scan (Identifiers Only — Never Photos)

To measure how often identification is right and to prioritize catalog improvements, the app may send a small confirmation event after you confirm a card. It contains only: the catalog card identifier and variant identifier you confirmed, how it was resolved (automatically, picked from the top matches, or corrected by you), whether the printed number/set text agreed, the catalog index version, and a timestamp. It never contains a photo, an image fingerprint, or any personal detail — identifiers only, and the schema is closed.

Sold Prices You Choose To Report (Opt-In)

If you report a sale you made ("I sold this for X"), we store the card variant, condition, the price and currency, the sale channel you pick from a fixed list, and the sale date. This is optional, available only to signed-in accounts, and rate-limited. Reported sales help build honest, community-sourced price history. If you delete your account, these records are de-identified — kept only as anonymous market data with no link back to you.

Where Value Data Comes From

Value bands come from realized sold-price data. The specific data source is named in the app next to each value once it is finalized (for example, "Median of n sales · last 30 days · data: <source>"). We label the source so a price is always traceable, and we never present a listing or catalog estimate as though it were a sold price.

Anonymous Usage Analytics

We record anonymous, aggregate usage events (for example, that a scan happened or a screen was viewed) to understand and improve the app. These are not tied to your identity for advertising. Loupe contains no third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.

No Ads, No Tracking, No Selling

We do not sell your data, we do not share it for third-party advertising, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites. We use your data only to run your account, provide the Pro subscription, offer support, and improve the app.

Delete Everything

You can delete your account from Settings at any time. Deleting removes your account, sessions, device tokens, alerts, and subscription records from our servers, and de-identifies any sold-price reports; the app then deletes your on-device collection and its iCloud copy. It is immediate and permanent.
